Dhirendra Shastri’s Extraordinary Powers: Bageshwar Dham’s Shocking Truth Revealed

In the heart of rural Madhya Pradesh, a spiritual phenomenon has taken India by storm. Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, born on July 4, 1996, also known as Bageshwar Dham Sarkar, has emerged as one of India’s most talked-about spiritual leaders, captivating millions with his divine darbars and powerful religious discourses. From humble beginnings in a small village to becoming a household name across the nation, his journey represents a fascinating blend of ancient Hindu traditions and modern-day spiritual awakening.

From Poverty to Peethadhishwar: The Extraordinary Journey

Born as Dhirendra Krishna Garg in Gada village of Chhatarpur district, Shastri was the eldest of two children to Saroj Garg and Ram Kripal Garg, a priest, and was raised in a Brahmin family marked by poverty, living in a kutcha house. What sets his story apart is not just his rise from these modest circumstances, but the spiritual legacy he inherited.

Shastri is serving as the peethadhishwar (chief) of Bageshwar Dham, a Hindu site dedicated to Lord Hanuman in Gada village, which was established by his great-grandfather, Sannyasi Baba. This lineage forms the foundation of his claim to spiritual authority, as he states he possesses supernatural powers achieved through sadhana and the blessings of his great-grandfather.

As a child, he used to narrate kathas to people in his village, foreshadowing the path that would make him one of India’s most prominent spiritual storytellers. Shastri is a disciple of Rambhadracharya and is known for his preaching of the Ramcharitmanas and Shiva Purana.

The Divine Darbar: Where Faith Meets the Miraculous

What truly distinguishes Dhirendra Shastri from other religious leaders is his “Divya Darbar” – a spiritual court that has become legendary across India. Shastri organizes a divya darbar at Bageshwar Dham every Tuesday and Saturday, where he purportedly conducts exorcisms, diagnoses illnesses including terminal cancers, and performs other miracles.

The process is both simple and profound. When devotees come to the Dham, they tie a coconut in colored cloth – red for general requests, yellow for marriage-related issues, and black for ghost-related problems – and keep it in the Dham premises. What happens next has mesmerized millions: Shastri reportedly calls out devotees by name from the crowd, writes their problems on paper before they speak, and then provides solutions through the blessings of Balaji (Lord Hanuman).

The main objective of the Katha told by Dhirendra Krishna Shastri Ji, blessed by Sanyasi Baba and head of Bageshwar Dham, is to propagate the Sanatan tradition across the world.

Global Spiritual Ambassador: From Madhya Pradesh to the World

Dhirendra Shastri’s influence extends far beyond India’s borders. His international programs have taken him across continents, spreading his message of Hindu spirituality and devotion. He is a disciple of well-known Hindu scholar and Guru Shri Ram Bhadracharya, known for preachings of Ram Charit Manas and Shiv Purana.

Dhirendra Shastri is a dashing, charming, and very good-looking witty young man who is not married and is heavily involved in the upliftment of poor communities. His appeal transcends traditional religious boundaries, attracting devotees from diverse backgrounds who seek spiritual guidance and solutions to life’s challenges.

In recent years, he has conducted kathas and darbars in countries including Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, and multiple cities across India, with each event drawing thousands of devotees. Programs are broadcast live on Sanskar Channel and Bageshwar Dham platforms, allowing millions to participate virtually in his spiritual discourses.

Social Impact: Beyond Miracles and Mantras

While his spiritual powers capture headlines, Dhirendra Shastri’s social welfare initiatives reveal another dimension of his work. Shastri has established the Annapurna Kitchen in his dham, where free food offerings are arranged for his followers.

Since the last couple of years, Dhirendra Shastri has been organizing mass marriages of destitute girls and boys from deprived communities for free and giving them lots of stuff as gifts after the wedding ceremony. This commitment to social upliftment extends to education as well, as he is establishing a Vedic Gurukula to promote ancient vedic studies and Sanskrit.

His ghar wapsi (reconversion) programs have also attracted attention. Shastri is said to have brought 300 people converted to Christianity back into Hinduism during a ghar wapsi program in 2021.

The Controversy and the Clean Chit

No discussion of Dhirendra Shastri would be complete without addressing the controversies that have followed him. In early 2023, he faced one of his biggest challenges when rationalist Shyam Manav publicly questioned his spiritual powers.

Manav challenged Shastri to prove his powers at a public event by correctly guessing the names, phone numbers, and other personal details of 10 people chosen by Manav, just as he had been doing at his performances. The challenge offered 30 lakh rupees if Shastri could demonstrate these abilities under controlled conditions.

The All India Superstition Eradication Committee made a complaint to the Nagpur Police about Shastri under the anti-superstition act, with chairman Shyam Manav stating that witchcraft was being promoted in the guise of ‘Divya Darbar’ and ‘Preta Darbar’.

However, the outcome vindicated Shastri. The police investigated and found no grounds for prosecution under the Anti-Superstition and Black Magic Act (2013). Moreover, on January 25, 2023, the Nagpur Police gave a clean chit to Dhirendra Shastri, with Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar stating that during an inquiry into the complaint and examination of evidence, nothing was found that could attract action under the Maharashtra Anti-Superstition & Black Magic Act.

Many Hindu religious leaders like Swami Ramdev, Rambhadracharya, Sadhvi Prachi, Pragya Thakur, and Bharatiya Janata Party politician Giriraj Singh came to his support, and he also got support from Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad. On January 22, 2023, several Hindu organizations called for a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi in support of Bageshwar Dham Sarkar’s Chief, Dhirendra Shastri.

Champion of Hindu Unity: The Social Crusader

In recent years, Dhirendra Shastri has emerged as a very staunch crusader of Hindu cause who openly demands to declare India a ‘Hindu Rashtra’ since the country was already divided 77 years ago on religious grounds. His political and social positions have made him a prominent voice in contemporary Hindu discourse.

Most recently, in November 2024, Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, the Peethadheeshwar of Bageshwar Dham, launched the ‘Hindu Ekta Yatra’ (Hindu Unity March) starting from Bageshwar Dham in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh. This 160-kilometer padyatra aimed at addressing critical social issues within the Hindu community.

Shastri emphasized the need to eradicate untouchability, discrimination, and social divisions within the Hindu religion, stating: “The purpose of this yatra is to unite Hindus by removing the caste system and the animosity that divides us”. He emphasized the significance of nationalism, declaring that love for the country should always come first, adding: “The national anthem should be played everywhere, including in temples and mosques”.

The nine-day journey, covering 160 kilometers, was scheduled to conclude in Orchha on November 29, with Shastri and thousands of devotees walking 20 km every day to spread the message of unity.

The Devotee Experience: Faith in Action

The testimonials from Bageshwar Dham devotees paint a picture of deep faith and reported transformations. Visitors describe experiences where Shastri allegedly identifies their problems without prior information, provides specific guidance, and offers solutions that devotees claim have changed their lives.

Apart from the darbars, Shastri also uploads videos of the ‘miracles’ he has performed, with some of his videos having over a million views. The devotion shown by followers is extraordinary, with some undertaking extreme acts of penance to reach the Dham.

Every devotee is ordered to appear for at least five Tuesdays at the darbar, creating a system of regular engagement that deepens their connection to the spiritual practices at Bageshwar Dham.
